Daily Closures

Broadway Corridor Lower Segment (East Houston Street to IH-35) & Avenue B and North Alamo Bike Lanes

Project Update:

  • Starting as early as the week of March 3, 2025, tree grate installation will begin. During installation of tree grates on Broadway, crews will setup rolling lane closures along the outside traffic lanes. Crews will be offloading grate frames, anchoring into concrete, then setting the iron grates. Rolling lane closures will only be on one side of the roadway at a time, stretching no more than two blocks in distance. Northbound and southbound traffic lanes will be opened at all times. Side streets will have full traffic access
  • Punch list items are being worked on into March 2025
  • Completed: Roadway, paving, sidewalks, landscaping, pedestrian lighting, bike racks, trash cans, traffic and pedestrian signals, and SAWS punch list items.
  • The entire project corridor is open to vehicular traffic
  • Avenue B, McCullough, and North Alamo bike lanes are completed
  • All work is weather permitting

This work is associated with the $42 Million, 2017 Bond Project. Businesses and residents have sidewalk and parking lot accessibility. Bike lane work is in association with the Avenue B/North Alamo bike lanes. Access to local traffic and businesses are maintained.

Project Notes:

  • Contractor Sundt Construction continues reconstruction on the Broadway Corridor Lower Segment (E. Houston St. to IH-35) project, and bike lane work on the Avenue B and N. Alamo Bike Lane Project.
  • All work is weather permitting, construction scheduling adjusted daily as needed by Sundt.

Public Works Department will continue to communicate any changes or updates to Council District 1 & 2 and Council District staff, surrounding businesses and residents.
